[Letter] 1957 May 14, Hopewell, Virginia [to] Honorable Watkins M. Abbitt, Washington, D.C.

Title

[Letter] 1957 May 14, Hopewell, Virginia [to] Honorable Watkins M. Abbitt, Washington, D.C.

Description

William R. Craig, manager of radio station WHAP in Hopewell, Virginia responded to a pamphlet Abbitt sent to constituents entitled "Federal Government and NAACP in Collusion to Force Integration in Virginia." Craig told Abbitt his mailing "backfired," as he was one resident of Virginia who does not share your idea of ‘preserving the right of the people.’ ‘The People’ to me mean all races, all creeds, all persons regardless of economic and social position—not just a few select Virginia aristocrats."
