Title

[Letter] 1968, February 17 [to] Congressman Watkins Moorman Abbitt

Description

Tom B. Fugate, president of the Peoples Bank of Ewing, wrote to Abbitt that he had heard Abbitt was considering not running for office again and urging him not to. “Virginia Agriculture and the Virginia economy need your service.” Abbitt replied that he had not yet made up his mind about whether to run again. He added “[c]onfidentially” that his wife--Corinne "Keeny" Hancock Abbitt--was “not at all well” and that he was waiting to see what develops before making a final decision.”
